How to qualified JEE(MAIN) and get admission in IIT.

This is not applicable to all. Only 3-5 percent of all the candidates who apply for JEE(Main), that is, 140,000-180,000 of them, have enough qualifying marks to qualify for JEE(Advanced). These candidates (80 percent of candidates) will get admission in IIITs and 75 percent in IITs. And of the remaining 5 percent, around 4-5 percent will get admission in colleges of National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IISERs, and IISERs. This ratio works for those who have done well in Class 12 boards.

On the other hand, those who have qualified for JEE(Advanced) in 2018 and qualified the JEE(Main), in which most of them are from the Plus One category (according to NCERT), only 15 percent are offered admission by IITs. Around 55-60 percent of the successful candidates are preferred by other institutes for admission.

This admission process has changed in the past couple of years. The admission process gets shifted to NET (National Eligibility Test) only for the candidates who have qualified JEE (Advanced). Only the students who had qualified their class 12 exams without facing any difficulty in their exams (by appearing in any one or more class 10 or class 12 exams) can get admission in IITs, IISERs and NITs.

All candidates who qualified for JEE(Advanced), will get an automatic seat for the admission in IITs. Those who can not get admission under this category will get admission in colleges of NITs, which do not require JEE(Main) qualification. But, under this admission process, the entire process has to be completed in five days.

What is NET?

Net is also called the National Eligibility Test or NAAT. It was set up by the Government of India in 2006. However, it was made mandatory in 2014. NET tests the students’ educational qualification. This admission process is different from the JEE (Main) admission. The NET is for the candidates who qualify JEE (Main) under the available categories, and also for those who have already qualified the class 12 exams of any board. The NET will give the students the direct admission to the master’s course (after the completion of the course) in different institutes.

The candidate who has scored 51 marks out of 100, will get a maximum of five seats, according to the recommendation of the IITs. Other institutes like IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay, will admit students according to their priority. And last, the candidate who has scored 80 marks will get admission in any IIT.

This means, after the completion of the four-week-long admission process, admission in IITs, IISERs and NITs can be seen in the next five days.

The process of applying for NET has been changed recently, and some of the applicants were not happy with the changes.

How can I make up to JEE(Main)?

In order to be eligible for JEE (Main), you have to make up to 90 percent of the maximum marks (250 marks) in the qualifying examinations (only class 12 or equivalent grade) in the subject you wish to get admitted for the admission in. The qualifying marks have to be obtained by the candidate in two successive years of class 12 or equivalent grade (in any board).

To get a seat in JEE (Main), one needs a total score of 360 marks (180 for the class 12 exams, 100 for JEE (Main) and 90 for JEE (Advanced).

Here are some tips to improve the NET score and get admission into JEE (Main): These days, every university offers different courses and candidates need to take admission in different colleges (after clearing the qualifying exams) to get an undergraduate degree. And for this, you need to qualify the entrance exams. So, in order to get a chance to clear your NET or IIT test and get admission in a university of your choice, you need to prepare yourself better.

You will find that only qualified candidates get a seat in IITs. So, it’s important to prepare properly for NET exam and improve your score, for a better chance of getting a seat in IIT.

Why NET is not enough?

For any student seeking admission in IITs or other engineering institutes, the admission process includes qualifying for JEE (Advanced). This is called JEE (Advanced). But, the JEE (Main) admission process doesn’t see the relevance of a student’s performance in NET.

To get an admission in the institute of your choice, you need to get through JEE (Main) or IIT (Advanced). It’s not possible for a student to get an admission to IIT in the first attempt of JEE (Main) exam or NET exam. In fact, you cannot have a bad score in JEE (Main) and get an admission to IIT in the second attempt. So, it’s better to start preparing before joining class 12 to improve your scores, according to your own abilities.

The government considers the students who have good qualifying score of JEE (Main) or NET as eligible for IIT or other engineering institutes. In fact, if the candidates have scored a score above the cutoff, their institute will provide admission to them. But if they haven’t got through the NET or JEE (Main), they can’t get an admission.

What are the minimum scores required for JEE (Advanced)?

Each college prepares their own list of qualified students, and it’s important for the candidates to get admission in the institute, which has got a qualified candidate as the staff member. JEE (Advanced) is one of the most prestigious exams for undergraduate admission into engineering colleges. To get admitted into IITs, an engineering student needs a minimum score of 120 and a minimum qualifying score of 74 in class 12 (as per official standards of the government).

Here’s how to improve the NET score and get admission in JEE (Main):

IIT Delhi: Student Issue

The student issue in IITs, which has gained much momentum, has been a matter of discussion, since many years. Students, who want to get admission in the IITs, will have to either do both the entrance exams, which has one option for class 12 students and the other for class 13 students. If you do the class 12 exams, you will not be able to apply for the class 13 exams. However, if you do the class 13 exams, you can get admission in IITs.

The reasons for the issue are:

According to the criteria of JEE (Main), a student needs to have scored 55% and above in the class 12 board exams. There are more than 13 lakh students in class 12, and so, the students can get admission only to around 7,800 seats.

However, the students, who have qualified the class 12 exams, will be selected from all the states. From these states, there are a maximum of 80,000 students, which will be provided, by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), in an equal proportion, to the top ten (of 24) students, who have qualified in class 12, in every state.

To qualify, you will need to complete the required course, by the end of this year.

Another problem that students face is of preference for good educational institutes, which are not providing admission. For example, in Bihar, one student has secured the second rank in the class 12 board exams (out of about 200 students), and he was offered admission in the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani.

How to get admission in IITs?
