The future of the health care is certainly looking bright. With the world needing more doctors and patients, the market for private medical colleges is bound to grow. And, now a private medical college in the country has given admissions for MBBS courses in the category of internal students with a reservation of 50% to get admission.
The college has announced its admissions based on a screening process from which only 50% of the seats were offered to the students in the internal category. And, to reserve 50% seats for internal students, a provision of reservation has been made in the admission form. Students, who passed their MBBS examinations from the medical colleges that have been notified by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research and who have secured more than 50 per cent marks will be offered the admission.
We introduced the provision for reservation in admission form so that we can get admissions in medical colleges even for private medical colleges also. We are getting calls from students as well as from other institutions offering admissions. Once the admission is filled in the form, we will see how to get the admission in MBBS course in private colleges”, Dr Mukesh Kumar Saini, Director of Medical Education and Research, Government of Uttar Pradesh, said.
According to him, these 50% reservation seats will be for the students who have secured admission through private medical colleges that are registered under the UP Medical Education Council. They will not be able to get admissions in the private colleges without the reservation.
He said that this is a step to ensure that government-run medical colleges are not left behind in the race for admitting students to MBBS courses. There are about 800 private medical colleges in the country and they offer MBBS courses in more than 350 private colleges.
The college also believes that the admission for MBBS courses is likely to increase in the upcoming years. According to the latest data, almost 20,000 students apply for admission into MBBS courses every year.

The MBBS exam was conducted in the month of July for which the candidates had to appear for an admission process. The result is out now and the students who have managed to clear this year’s MBBS exams have an opportunity to get a future in MBBS. The counselling is ongoing and will end by January 25, 2017.
The top 25 private medical colleges are from cities like Noida, Kanpur, Allahabad, Lucknow, Patna, Pune, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Bangalore and Jaipur.
There are around 10,000 private medical colleges in India. And, nearly 1.5 lakh students apply for admission every year.

According to the official notification of UP government, it is compulsory for students applying for the admission in medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh to fill in the admission forms in prescribed format. If any private medical college offers admission on a vacant seat, fill in the application form along with all relevant documents.
