Is Bihar on verge of a second Covid wave?

PATNA:- Health experts had warned of a spike in Covid-19 cases after the assembly election in Bihar. However, data shared by the Bihar government does not indicate any significant increase even though several cities across the country are facing a massive spike in the cases.

Preparation for the assembly election began almost 50 days ago and in the past one month scores of rallies were organized by political parties without following any Covid-19 norms. People without masks jostling at these rallies was a common sight, and doctors were worried it would lead to a large-scale rise in the cases of Covid-19.

But post-election, the state has been recording barely 500 to 800 cases daily, even less than the average per day cases in October. So the question uppermost on the minds of experts is whether the Covid tide has finally turned in Bihar or is the state sitting on a Covid powder keg?

“If infection began spreading from the rally, I guess we should wait for a week. I don’t have an explanation right now,” said Dr T Jacob John, senior virologist and former head of ICMR’s centre for advanced research in virology.

However, he said under-reporting, if being done, could be a reason as well as less use of RT-PCR method for the test. Dr Jacob said while RT-PCR has chances of 20 to 30% misses, rapid antigen kit may miss the report by more than 50%. In Bihar, the majority of samples are tested using the rapid antigen method.

He cited the example of Sweden, where not many have been infected with SARS-CoV-2. Dr Jacob said a researcher in Sweden had found preexisting immunity due to common cold coronavirus which was because of repeated common cold there. However, he said this aspect needed to be studied in the context of Bihar, even though it is a difficult job.
AIIMS nodal incharge for Covid-19, Dr Sanjeev Kumar too said the number of cases registered daily is less than what was expected after the election. He denied it could be because of herd immunity. “To achieve herd immunity, 70% of the population needs to be infected, which has not happened in Bihar. So this cannot be the reason. We have to wait and watch. But one thing is clear that we can’t relax now.”

Former IMA president Dr Rajiv Ranjan Prasad cautioned that the state may be sitting on a volcano which could erupt anytime and advised wearing a mask. However, he said the healthy rural lifestyle followed in Bihar could be a reason for the virus not spreading rapidly, unlike western countries and metros like Delhi

PATNA: Two days after Bihar’s education minister Mewalal Choudhary resigned over corruption charges, his party JD(U) on Saturday asked Mahagathbandhan leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav to maintain similar degree of propriety in political life and not to accept the post of the leader of opposition (LoP) in the 17th assembly, till he (Tejashwi) is proved not guilty in the IRCTC hotel-for-land case.
The CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have already field charge-sheet against Tejashwi, his mother and former CM Rabri Devi in the case.

Hitting back on Tejashwi for speaking loud over the corruption charges against Mewalal, JD(U) state president and Rajya Sabha member Bashishtha Narayan Singh on Saturday asked, “Does Tejashwi who himself is facing corruption charges, hold moral right to speak on Mewalal’s issue?”

Talking to media persons at JD(U) headquarters here, Singh said, “I am thankful to Mewalal Choudhary who has set a good example by resigning from the post of education minister. CM Nitish Kumar has maintained zero-tolerance for corruption. In the past, the CM had also taken similar action against former ministers like Jitan Ram Manjhi, Ramanand Singh and Ramadhar Singh when they faced allegations of corruption. These days, Tejashwi Yadav is being very vocal against Mewalal Choudhary. I want to tell him he has no moral right to talk on this matter. He is also facing similar corruption charges,” the JD(U) state president said.

In fact, the JD(U) on Saturday fielded its five senior leaders at the party’s office to speak against Tejashwi and corner him on the issue of corruption. Besides Singh, the JD(U) state working president and building construction minister Ashok Choudhary and the party’s three spokespersons Sanjay Singh, Neeraj Kumar and Ajay Alok addressed a joint press conference and sought to know from Tejashwi whether he would resign from his post following the suit of Mewalal.

Some of the JD(U) leaders asked Tejashwi to resign from his post. But fact is that Tejashwi is currently holding no post either in the assembly or the state government. Tejashwi was the leader of opposition in the 16th assembly which is dissolved now, hence is not holding the post of the LoP. The 17th assembly will resume from Monday. After that Tejashwi might be notified as the LoP depending on the strength of his party in the assembly.

Speaking at the press conference, Ashok Choudhary said, “Our leader (Nitish Kumar) cannot tolerate on three ‘C’: crime, corruption or communalism. The Mewalal Choudhary episode is a prime example of our leader’s zero tolerance on such issues.”

The JD(U) leaders also revealed that Mewalal Choudhary was asked to resign after the police on November 17 sought permission from the Raj Bhawan to prosecute him on the charges of corruption.

“Police sought permission from the Raj Bhawan to prosecute him on November 17. The permission to prosecute him is yet to be given. Still, our government asked Mewalal Choudhary to resign. We showed an example of propriety in public and political life. Will Tejashwi act on similar lines and quit his post?” JD(U) spokesperson Ajay Alok asked.

JD(U)’s other spokespersons Sanjay Singh and Neeraj Kumar too attacked Tejashwi raising the matter of his involvement in the IRCTC case and asked him to follow the suit of Mewalal.

Within two hours of taking charge as the education minister, Mewalal resigned on Thursday, after CM Nitish Kumar asked him to do so. Mewalal was booked in 2017 under Sections 409, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120B of the IPC, for alleged discrepancies in the appointment of more than 160 assistant-cum-junior scientists at the Bihar Agriculture University at Sabour in Bhagalpur district, while he was vice-chancellor of the university between 2010 and 2015

पिछले दो हफ्तों से आप PUBG के रिलॉन्च को लेकर कई खबरें सुन रहे हैं. ज्यादातर गेम प्रेमी चाहते हैं कि PUBG तुरंत लॉन्च हो ताकि अपने दोस्तों के साथ इसका मजा लिया जाए. लेकिन सवाल यही है कि आखिर ये गेम कब तक लॉन्च होगा. आइए हम बताते हैं क्या है अपडेट और कहां फंस रहा मामला…

सिर्फ कुछ घंटों में लॉन्च की हुई थी
टेक साइट इनसाइड स्पोर्ट्स के अनुसार हाल ही में PUBG के फैन पेज से एक खबर चल रही है. जिसमें लिखा है कि सिर्फ कुछ ही घंटों में PUBG लॉन्च होने को लेकर घोषणा हो सकती है. इसे सोशल मीडिया में खूब शेयर भी किया जा रहा है.

क्या है आधिकारिक बयान
प्राप्त जानकारी के मुताबिक जिन सुरक्षा चुनौतियों को लेकर सरकार ने PUBG बैन किया था, उस पर अभी तक कोई ठोस बातचीत नहीं हुई है. PUBG रिलॉन्च को लेकर गेमिंग कंपनी ने कोई आधिकारिक बयान अभी तक जारी नहीं किया है. इसी तरह सरकार ने भी अभी तक कोई प्रतिक्रिया नहीं दी है.

TapTap पर 2.50 लाख लोगों कराए प्री-रजिस्ट्रेशन
हाल ही में खबर चली थी कि गेमिंग कम्यूनिटी TapTap पर पबजी खेलने के लिए प्री-रजिस्ट्रेशन किए जा रहे हैं. इस खबर के बाद ही पबजी के 2.50 लाख दिवानों ने TapTap ऐप पर अपना रजिस्ट्रेशन कराया. लेकिन अब इस ऐप की भी कोई खोज खबर नहीं है.

क्या कहती है सरकार:-ToI की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक केंद्र सरकार ने साफ कर दिया है कि PUBG समेत कई विदेशी ऐप्स को बैन किया गया है. जब तक PUBG सुरक्षा और डेटा सिक्योरिटी को लेकर ठोस इंतजाम नहीं कर लेती दोबारा लॉन्च का सवाल ही पैदा नहीं होता. केंद्र सरकार ने कहा है कि गेम लॉन्च करने से पहले देश में सर्वर लगाना जरूरी है.

29 पूजा स्पेशल गाड़ियों को होली तक चलाने का प्रस्ताव, देखें ट्रेनों की पूरी लिस्ट!

दीपावली और छठ के लिए चलाई जा रही 29 पूजा स्पेशल गाड़ियों को होली तक चलाने की तैयारी है। वाणिज्य विभाग ने पिछले सप्ताह ही परिचालन विभाग को इसका प्रस्ताव भेज दिया है। इस पर जल्द मोहर लगने की उम्मीद है।

दशहरा से पहले ही दीपावली और छठ में होने वाली यात्रियों की भीड़ को देखते हुए रेल बोर्ड की सहमति पर रेल प्रशासन ने मुम्बई, दिल्ली, हटिया, कोलकाता, बेंगलुरु के लिए 30 नवम्बर तक पूजा स्पेशल ट्रेनें चलाने की घोषणा की थी। यात्रियों की संख्या में लगातार वृद्धि देख वाणिज्य विभाग ने इन सभी पूजा स्पेशल ट्रेनों को मार्च 2021 तक बढ़ाने का प्रस्ताव तैयार कर परिचालन विभाग को भेज दिया है।

संभावना जताई जा रही है कि 26 नवम्बर तक प्रस्ताव पर मुहर लग जाएगी। कोरोना के चलते रेलवे रूटीन ट्रेनों को कोविड और पूजा स्पेशल नाम से चला रहा है। ऐसे में पूजा खत्म हो जाने के बाद भी इन ट्रेनों की डिमांड रहेगी। इसी के मद्देनजर रेलवे ने सभी 29 ट्रेनों को होली तक बढ़ाने के लिए प्रस्ताव दिया है। इससे दिल्ली, मुम्बई, कोलकाता, त्रिवेंद्रम, शालीमार जैसे शहरों को जाने के लिए सुविधा हो जाएगी।
